Governor DeSantis

Governor Ron DeSantis has allocated $4 million in job growth grant funds to Indian River State College for the establishment of a new center focused on ballistics and emerging technology!

The press conference was held at the Eastman Advanced Workforce Training Complex at Indian River State College which just commemorated its opening Nov 2023. It's a state-of-the-art training workforce for technical career fields in manufacturing, aviation, marine, welding, and more.

This new center will provide education and training for students to develop the skills necessary for creating ballistic assault barriers, including bulletproof glass, walls, and doors. The aim is to support law enforcement and enhance public safety by ensuring officers have access to advanced protective materials.

Diamond Defense Systems, a company specializing in bulletproof glass for law enforcement, will partner with Indian River State College to facilitate job opportunities for students. The collaboration aims to address the growing demand for enhanced security infrastructure in various facilities, including schools and municipal buildings.

The initiative has garnered support from local law enforcement leaders and emphasizes the importance of investing in talent development and workforce education. Governor DeSantis and state officials view this initiative as a way to stimulate economic growth and innovation while supporting those who serve and protect communities.

Indian River State College President Timothy Moore commended Governor DeSantis for his commitment to education and workforce development, expressing confidence in achieving the state's goal of having the number one workforce educational program by 2030 through initiatives like this one!

Progress!
